General update
Following this week’s inflation figures, financial markets currently expect the Bank of England will raise interest rates to 6% by the end of the year. According to ONS, UK inflation has fallen to 6.8%, its lowest level since before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This is the lowest reading since February 2022. Retail sales volumes fell 3.2% annually in July 2023.
