General update
Octopus has announced it will buy Shell's household energy business in the UK and Germany. They said that it will take over providing energy for 1.4m homes as well as broadband services for 500,000 customers.

Prices rose 6.9% in the year to August, down from 8.4% in July, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) said. Meat, potatoes and some cooking oil prices have risen less sharply.
