I am not sure that we have learned much from the political conferences so far. Stamp Duty seems a new political football.
Warning over robo calls as energy firms fined half a million pounds for unlawful marketing calls
The ICO has fined 2 energy companies a total of £550,000 for making automated marketing calls. They did have a shared director.  
“We’ve heard disturbing reports of how unscrupulous companies are using robo technology to fool elderly and vulnerable people. We understand how distressing these calls can be and will work on the public’s behalf to catch those responsible.”  
Compliance with the PECR and other related regulations has been a hot topic of later for the ICO and the FCA.
