General update
My thanks to Martin Hickley for confirming that the 4th July election means the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill has been dropped.
Martin also advised that the UK National Cyber Security Centre (“NCSC”) and 3 major UK insurance associations (Association of British Insurers (“ABI”), British Insurance Brokers’ Association (“BIBA”) and International Underwriting Association (“IUA”)),  have published joint guidance on the approach to ransom payments for cyber incidents. This comes as Santander has been hacked with the headline ‘Santander staff and '30 million' customers hacked’. The hackers belong to the same gang which this week claimed to have hacked Ticketmaster (£400k ransom demand). It is hard to avoid thinking about the impact of these type of attacks on operational and financial resilience for small & medium sized firms.
