Well done to all those involved in lobbying work with the announcement that the Government are going to consult on Council Tax collection. I am going to put this down as a collective and collaborative effort given the number of LinkedIn posts claiming their efforts clinched this consultation. The Chancellor of Duchy of Lancaster, the Rt Hon Pat McFadden, announced that the Government will consult on council tax debt collection practices.
The average Band D council tax set by local authorities in England for 2025-26 will be £2,280, which is an increase of £109 or 5% on the 2024-25 figure of £2,171.
