What is interesting is how London in particular has outstripped the rest of the country in terms of house prices, and have smaller average property sizes.
Generally the south, east (towards Norfolk) and East Midlands has also seen an increase benefiting from being in London's orbit.

Annual UK house price growth slows to lowest level in more than a decade

According to a report by Halifax, the annual house price growth across the UK has slowed down to the lowest level in over a decade, with property values in the south of England under the greatest pressure. The report showed that average prices in April were 0.1% higher than the same month a year ago, the lowest rate of growth since December 2012 and down from March’s annual growth rate of 1.6%.
