Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
FCA launched its 2025/26 work programme emphasizing innovation (e.g. expanding the Regulatory Sandbox) and responsible AI use. The FCA’s new AI testing service (part of its AI Lab) is in development to help firms deploy AI safely. It also updated the cross-regulator Regulatory Initiatives Grid to map upcoming rules.
In consumer protection, the FCA published multi-firm reviews on vulnerable customers, finding that despite improvements, vulnerable consumers still face poorer outcomes. A specific review on retail banks’ handling of bereavement cases highlighted inconsistent support (e.g. failing to update credit files or close accounts after a customer’s death), urging all firms to strengthen policies and training​.
